For the last two weekends, comedian-turned-politician Kato Lubwama together with Abbey Mukiibi and Golden Band formerly known as Eagles Production have been holding a play, ‘Vitta’ at the theater.

In Vitta, all the dramatists dress in the UPDF uniform, to rhyme with the play’s theme of “Military Love”.

However, these uniforms have been taken away allegedly on the orders of the Commander of UPDF, Gen David Muhoozi.

It is reported that Muhoozi issued the orders on 30th March, accusing Kato Lubwama and his colleagues of abusing the uniform.

They are accused of using the UPDF uniform in a play seen to be anti-government.

Section 164 (2) of the 2005 UPDF Act 7 permits artists to use the same for Bona fide stage, film or television production. Though, these have to be handed back to the UPDF stores after the performance.
