January is a dry month? You could be alone!
At least the Personal Assistant to the president of South Sudan is not with you, as the month has come with blessings to him.
News coming in from Serena Hotel Kampala has it that the South Sudan government official is to spend Shs1billion on a wedding.
He has already hired three halls at Serena Hotel Kampala for one week.
Addition to this, he has spent a fleet of Mercedes Benz – Cross Country in which the bride and groom together with their entourage are to travel.
The decoration alone on the cars is said to have cost Shs200million.
This won’t be the first time that the war-torn country will be seeing such a luxury wedding.
In November last year, South Sudanese businessman Kok Alat made headlines in international media when he wedded a 17 year old in a lavish wedding.
To secure the wedding, Kok Alat had outshone five other men, including a Deputy Governor, by paying 530 cows, three Land cruiser V8 cars and $10,000 for the virgin Dinka girl making her arguably the most expensive bride by African standards.
Other than Kok Alat, the other suitors had equally tabled humongous offers including Deputy Governor Hon David Mayom Riak’s 353 cows with bonuses including ‘first class’ land.
