To many, five years seem to be a long period of time but to a family from Mbale, it’s a very short period.
At least too short to forget their son, Conrad who succumbed to kidney failure in 2013.
Marking the 5th anniversary of his death, one of the things the late’s sister, Sheila Mulelengi couldn’t stop talking about is Bebe Cool’s golden heart.
“Conrad died a week before his planned travel to overseas to have a kidney transplant. But Bebe Cool genuinely loved him. He was there all through for Conrad yet when one looked at the boy, all you could see was death but this never stopped Bebe Cool from checking on him.
“He checked on him daily like a father; encouraged him, fundraised for him, always asked him what he could get him and always delivered. Never seen a person with such a pure heart. He literally became family and when the funds were ready, he handed over the proceeds to the people in charge. Sandra, the kidney donor and Conrad were supposed to travel on Tuesday but unfortunately, he passed on a week earlier in Mulago and was buried in Bukiiti, Mbale.”
According to her, this marked the beginning of a change of impression of Bebe Cool she had held for a very long period of time.
“Since then, I took my time to learn and understand him. I have learnt his weaknesses as well his strengths and fallen for his strengths.”
Bebe Cool will this Friday hold a concert dubbed Golden Heart Concert at Kololo Airstrip aimed at saving lives of children in a similar situation like the late Conrad.
Tickets to the show can be bought at Serena Hotel or you can have your ticket delivered in person for Shs5,000,000 for VVIP tables and shs100,000 for VIP.
