Controversial US rapper has found himself at the center of attacks from Ugandans over his meeting with their president, Yoweri Museveni who has been in power since 1986.

Much as Museveni stated in a statement released shortly after the meeting that the visit was mainly to benefit the tourism and arts industry, all of this has been blasted by a reasonable number of Ugandans.

“I welcome American entertainment stars Kanye West and Kim Kardashian to Uganda. I held fruitful discussions with the duo on how they can support efforts to promote Uganda’s tourism and the general arts,” reads the statement.

But reacting to the statement, majority of Ugandans are wondering why it isn’t the minister of tourism or officials who met with the celebrity couple.

The only people seen in the photos with Kanye West are Museveni and his family members; daughter Diana and son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

“Am suprised not to see minister for tourism if the meeting was really for the cause of promoting tourism. All I see is daughter and son,” pointed out Aslaf Lumala.

“Yoweri Museveni invites foreign Entertainers, Kanye West, Kardishian to Uganda but he’s chasing and persecuting Bobi Wine an indigenous entertainer?”

Meanwhile, the rapper who has been in Uganda since Friday gifted Museveni with a pair of sneakers.

“I thank Kanye West for the gift of white sneakers. Enjoy your time in Uganda.”

One Mutegeki Ronnie joked, “‪Hope we won’t be forced to pay Sneaker cleaning Tax”.

His joke was premised on the current tax levied on social media.

Ugandans have been paying social media tax since July.
