Former NBS Tv journalist, Sir Simon Muyanga Lutaaya is currently back to walking after his car, a Toyota Premio Reg. UAT 194J was stolen Friday night from his home in Jinja.
According to the former ‘One on One with Tamale Mirundi’ host, he left Kampala for his home in Jinja Friday.
When he reached his home located in Mpumude, he parked the car and disembarked, leaving inside money worth Shs400,000 and other items which included his glasses.
“I slept until 3:30am when I woke up and checked on my car through the window and it was there. So I rested a bit until around 4:30am when my wife and I woke up to prepare for work. My wife told me that she was not seeing the car outside. I immediately called 999 but there was no response. I called DPC Iganga and DPC Kampala and informed them about the theft,” reads his statement at Jinja CPS in part.
Boda boda and car thefts are currently on the rise in Uganda.
This week, a boda boda rider Richard Sekamate 25, a resident of Kasanda was brutally killed Wednesday before his assailants stole his boda boda bike.
Last week three boda boda riders in Kasese and Butambala lost their lives after being stabbed to death before their bikes were stolen.
